This week’s meals consisted of not just chicken! I didn’t get to prepare lunch for the mister this week because I decided to try out the HEB grocery delivery since it was free on Tuesday-Friday. It’s actually really nice but I would need to have things prepared for Monday this coming week so I can cook lunch ahead of time.
This week’s menu was Korean Beef Rice Bowl, Garlicky Spaghetti, and Honey Garlic Chicken. Can you tell I like garlic?? (poor Emmett)
This was so easy to make and I really liked it. If only I had some good kimchi to go with it! I followed the recipe pretty closely except I left out the ginger because I didn’t have any. Everything else you just mix together and cook it with the beef. VIOLA! Dinner is served.
I give this a 7 out of 10. Simple and delicious but would be even better with some side dishes.
So this dish, I think I didn’t get the proportions right because they asked for a lb of spaghetti but I didn’t think we would need that much, but I didn’t adjust the other ingredients. The Panko crust was too much in the end. I also added spam as my meat since I didn’t finish using it last week from the Korean Army Stew. To make this a little healthier, I did add a salad as a side.
My rating would be 5 out of 10. Maybe if I got the proportions right, it would’ve been better. I liked that there was the bread crust because it gave a different texture but it was a little too salty for me (probably also b/c of added spam).
I think it’s safe to say, this dish was our favorite. So I bypassed the oven, it probably would’ve been even better in the oven with a crispy skin but it I just sous vide the chicken at 140 degrees Fahrenheit and added the sauce into the pan to cook it.
I also used red onions instead of white (it’s what we had at home) and I used less sugar and honey than it requested. It seemed like a lot of sweet so I adjusted it to my liking. Other than that, the mister loved it and I actually really liked it too!
This gets 8 out of 10 for the taste and simple recipe. I did make some stir-fry garlic cabbage as a vegetable too.
